Zarsia is a young girl who keeps her grandmother company in her solitude—a grandmother whose family always reminded her that she had been born “backwards.” She grows up dreaming of seeing the world beyond that small, ancient setting. The narrative unfolds across past and present, weaving together the memories and realities of the characters’ lives. The events take place in various countries and settings, centering on Zarsia’s passion for international solidarity and the mysteries of politics—a realm that ultimately leaves her deeply disillusioned. *Born Backwards* is also a story of emotion and love, running parallel to a journey of personal growth and self-overcoming—a constant struggle between opposing forces, and a fight against the injustices and ghosts that often hold us back on life’s path.
